>Description: Exploring sound as a potential generative design tool through the use of machine learning algorithms. We will be dissecting the saying “architecture is frozen music” through a tangible analysis of sound and its translation to physical space. Our purpose is to find out if sounds can truly shape the built environment. By the end of our experiments, we are looking to have direct correlations of particular sound data to specific geometrical systems with meaningful architectural qualities. Our objective was to be able to evaluate and analyze some spatial qualities from directly translated sound data. While the point cloud output looks promising, the mesh (influenced by the same point cloud) doesn’t seem to be satisfactory for our purposes. An alternative means of interpreting the point cloud data into spatial data must be investigated.
